Background:
Most Cambodians consider themselves to be Khmers, descendants of the
Angkor Empire that extended over much of Southeast Asia and reached
its zenith between the 10th and 13th centuries.
The flag of Cambodia consists of three horizontal stripes - the top
and bottom stripes are blue and of equal size; and the center stripe
is a larger red one with a white emblem representing the towers of
Angkor Wat in the middle of it.
The national flag of Cambodia was readopted in 1993, after

Since around 1850, the Cambodian flag has featured a depiction of
Angkor Wat in the center.
